I was thinking this morning about how God is involved or not involved in our daily lives. Is he guiding us, helping us or is he more like a father who watches us take our daily baby steps and just helps us get up when we fall down? Perhaps God is like a coach telling us what to do, but we have to do the work? I really don't know how active God is in our daily lives, and I don't think we should worry about it. If we were made by God and made by him in his image, then as long as we live with good intentions we should be living more or less within what is expected of us. Yet what about prayer? What about going to church or being active in a "Christian community"? These are issues I've been wondering about. How often should we pray and how should we pray? Should we go to church every Saturday or Sunday or does that even matter? I wonder how much of Christianity in all its forms would be acceptable by Jesus today and how much he would reject as corrupt or hateful. So much of the church today is based on traditions and beliefs formed long after the cross. How involved is God in your daily life? |
